September 11: Never Forget

It's been nineteen years. Memories fade. There's a whole generation that didn't experience the reality of that day. Some never learned history. Some have forgotten history. The events of September 11, 2001 brought horrors to our shores that the world should never be permitted to forget. Today our days are filled with the effects of the Chinese virus, racial tension both real and fabricated, and the Marxist violence in our cities. Yet, none of this compares with the horrors inflicted upon our country by our enemies on that September day.

Never Forget. Never Forgive.

Holy Archangels, Intercede For Us

September 29 is the Feast of the Archangels — St. Gabriel, St. Raphael and St. Michael. These are trying times for Christianity and freedom in general, both at home and abroad, with attacks coming from all directions.

Politicians and activists continue to push laws to restrict the free practice of religion. To my utter amazement, people actually stand in the street proclaiming how proud they are to have killed their own children. In the past week we saw a "trial" that would make Stalin proud. People with evil in their hearts, worked to destroy a man and his family, simply because they feared he might uphold the Constitution of this country. The satanic forces of islam continue hundreds of years barbarism and remain relentless in attacking and killing Christians around the world, including right here at home. The Catholic Church is being attacked from within by men who have given in to Satan and his perversions. To anyone paying attention, it's obvious that the evil one has established a stronghold in this world.

We must fight, physically and spiritually, and never surrender to the evil that seems so prevalent. Now is the time to implore the intercession of these warriors to fight for us, and with us. I pray daily to the most powerful of these Holy warriors, St. Michael, to ask his aid and guidance.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
cast into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Some never learned history. Some have forgotten history.

Neither is acceptable.

Remember. Learn.

The Battle of Lepanto

October 7 marks the anniversary of The Battle of Lepanto in the year 1571. In this historically significant battle, the Fleet of the Holy League defeated the much larger fleet of the Ottoman Empire. This Christian victory stopped, but for a while, the aggression of the "religion of peace" into the Mediterranean, and into Europe as well. Untold hundreds of thousands of innocent people were saved from slavery, execution, and other barbarisms the moslems were bringing imposing on the conquered lands.

We have a good idea what an islamist victory at Lepanto would have brought to Europe and the rest of the world. Witness the genocide of Christians in the Middle East and the application of "islamic law" in those same lands, as well as the growing islamic unrest and killings in Europe. We should offer a prayer of thanksgiving for those Christian warriors of long ago, even as we face the resurgence of islamic conquests at home and abroad.

Lest we be complacent, heed the words of Robert McMullen,
Many Christian knights, soldiers, and sailors have died defending Christendom against the onslaughts of Islam down through the centuries. Today, the borders of many European countries, Canada, and the United States are practically wide open, and the old enemy is invited to come in and make himself at home. And many 'Christians' in the West are just too busy enjoying their material prosperity to be bothered with unpleasant history.

But the enemy has not forgotten history. He remembers it all too well, and he is still deadly serious about his religion. His goal over the years has not changed in the slightest, and he is very patient. The enemy within is now smiling, just biding his time.

And also the reminder from Theodore Roosevelt, writing at the start of the 20th Century,
Christianity is not the creed of Asia and Africa at this moment solely because the seventh century Christians of Asia and Africa had trained themselves not to fight, whereas the Moslems were trained to fight. Christianity was saved in Europe solely because the peoples of Europe fought. If the peoples of Europe in the seventh and eighth centuries, and on up to and including the seventeenth century, had not possessed a military equality with, and gradually a growing superiority over the Mohammedans who invaded Europe, Europe would at this moment be Mohammedan and the Christian religion would be exterminated.

Sadly, history proves that islam is not, and has never been, peaceful. It is also true that a majority of muslims aren't actively killing Christians and other non-mulsims. That does not mean they don't support those who do.

The "lone wolf" attacks on our country have been occurring for decades. How long before we face a renewed, and modern, version of the moslem fleet that sailed against Lepanto?

September 11: A Day That Must Never Be Forgotten

It's been sixteen years. Memories fade. There's a whole generation that doesn't remember the reality of that day. The events of September 11, 2001 brought horrors to our shores that the world should never be allowed to forget.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.

cast into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Never in its 1400 year history has islam "coexisted" in peace with the rest of the world. It is foolhardy, and deadly, to believe it ever will.

St. Augustine of Hippo

We've had this quote from St. Augustine on the sidebar for several years...
"Though defensive violence will always be 'a sad necessity' in the eyes of men of principle, it would be still more unfortunate if wrongdoers should dominate just men."

August 28 is the Feast Day of St. Augustine of Hippo. Now considered a Doctor of the Church, he died in 430 A.D. Augustine led a life of debauchery until, through the ardent prayers of his mother, St. Monica, he converted to Christianity. The Saint merits mention in the Musings for a couple of reasons.

Reason # 1, St. Augustine is one of the patron Saints of Brewers. For reasons not fully clear, his conversion from a life of debauchery earned him that title.

Reason # 2 are his writings on the Doctrine of Just War. The theory of a just war holds that violence should not be the first answer to violence, however resorting to only peacefulness in the face of a grave wrong would be a sin if violence is the the only way to prevent such a wrong.

"The purpose of all war is ultimately peace."

Never Forget

On this fifteenth anniversary of the deadliest islamic terrorist attack on our country, let us pray that this ever encroaching evil is soon defeated, and that we may someday live in safety and peace.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
cast into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

History shows us that never in its 1400 year history has islam been able, or willing, to coexist in peace with the rest of the world. And by its own barbaric doctrine, never will.

Credit Where Credit Is Due

Or maybe not.

Meanwhile, the "no strategy" president relaxes on the golf course.

“He won’t call a war, a war. He won’t call Islamist terrorists, Islamist terrorists. This president is a terrified little man in a great big job he can’t do.” — Lt. Col. Ralph Peters

Red Alert: Israel

Earlier this week I downloaded the Red Alert: Israel app to my iPhone. Installing the app coincided with the latest ceasefire between hamas terrorists and Israel, so I forgot all about it. That is until early Friday morning when I was awoken by an alert from my phone. Rolling over I saw that Red Alert was announcing rockets being launched into Israel. All through the morning, my phone sat on my desk, the alerts going off with alarming frequency.

I'm in no immediate danger from the muslims launching rockets while hiding behind children. Nonetheless, each alert leaves me with an unsettling feeling, knowing that Israelis, at that very moment, are hoping that their Iron Dome defenses are again successful.

Each alert is also a reminder of the anti-Semitic leaning of the leftist media and the current occupant of the White House. I feel a slight rise in blood pressure knowing that there are Democrats in Congress like Representative Beto Rourke who think it's an "atrocity" to stop the rockets from hitting Israeli citizens. Meanwhile, the Israeli forces tie their own hands by striving to avoid civilian casualties, even among those who wish to see Israel destroyed.

The free Red Alert: Israel app is available for iOS and Android devices.

Students Support Execution of Gun Owners

Activist Mark Dice recently visited a California college campus passing around a "petition" calling for the abolishment of 2nd Amendment. What happened next will leave you shaking your head.

Taken by itself, one might be inclined to dismiss reactions of the clueless students, as, well, the actions of clueless students. However this isn't the first time we've seen anti-gun crowd call for violence against law-abiding gun owners. In fact, these inclinations are far from uncommon. And these students probably do, and will, vote. It's disconcerting how the idea of imprisoning and even executing innocent Americans doesn't raise an objection.

Recently Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia recently told law students, regarding the internment of Japanese-Americans during WW II,
“That’s what was going on - the panic about the war and the invasion of the Pacific and whatnot. That’s what happens. It was wrong, but I would not be surprised to see it happen again, in time of war. It’s no justification, but it is the reality,” he said.
The anti-gunners are also hinting at punishing guns owners because they might commit a crime in the future. According to Kristen Rand, legislative director at the Violence Policy Center in Washington, "Just because you're a law-abiding citizen today doesn't mean you're going to be one tomorrow."

Sort of gives new meaning to the term "war on guns."

Fr. Kapaun Awarded Medal of Honor

Servant of God Fr. Emil Kapaun was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions while a prisoner of war during the Korean War. The story of this priest and the lives he touched, and saved, is amazing and inspiring. I have been following Fr. Kapaun's story and anxiously awaiting this day when he would be recognized for his service and sacrifice.

This holy man spent 7 months in horrendous conditions in a POW camp. Yet, his love of God and concern for his fellow prisoners never wavered. One can only imagine the abuse he faced from his captors, who were unable to break his resolve or fight the hope he gave to other captives. Fr. Kapaun was eventually martyred by starvation and lack of medical treatment. He died on May 23, 1951.

As I watched the medal ceremony online, I was moved by the presence of men who knew Fr. Kapaun, including a veteran who's life the priest had saved. I was also struck by the irony of the award being given by the president, and man so very unlike Fr. Kapaun.

Contego over at Gabriel Possenti Shooters summed it up well:
I sensed that this priest, who may one day be canonized a Saint in the Catholic Church, was placed as a sign for us, and for the president. As he spoke the words, I wondered if they might be touching his heart, his soul - showing him what virtue is, what a real man does, how a faithful Christian serves God? I am certain Fr. Kapaun is to be canonized; to hear his actions described by a man who has no respect for the Catholic Church, who is actively pressing for Her destruction, who has no moral compass as he pushes for abortion in all forms, same sex marriage and other objectively evil things, my heart was touched, my eyes misty. Even coming from the mouth of one so distant from Mother Church and all that She teaches, Fr. Kapaun's story was still glorious!
It took 60 years for Fr. Kapaun to be awarded the Medal of Honor. However, his true reward will come when he is recognized as a member of the Church Triumphant. Named a Servant of God in 1993, the cause for Fr. Kapuan's canonization is ongoing. May the wait for his heavenly honor be not so long coming as his earthly award.

An Act of War

The rhetoric out of "Occupy Oakland" movement is calling for a blockade of America's west coast ports on December 12.
Occupy Oakland calls for the blockade and disruption of the economic apparatus of the 1% with a coordinated shutdown of ports on the entire West Coast on December 12th. The 1% has disrupted the lives of longshoremen and port truckers and the workers who create their wealth, just as coordinated nationwide police attacks have turned our cities into battlegrounds in an effort to disrupt our Occupy movement.
This out of touch movement has declared their desire to disrupt the economy of our nation, prevent critical supplies from reaching their destinations, as well as prevent thousands of American workers from earning a living. In any country in the world, a blockade of a nation's ports or a disruption of the the country's supply lines is an act of war. This tactic has been used throughout history by nations and terrorists alike. Now the radical left-wing movement within the U.S. is preparing to employ this tactic against our Nation. This could get interesting.
