Fire Exposes Illegal Still

According to the report, an "illegal distillery" was found by official investigating a fire at a home.
The Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office says it discovered an illegal distillery Tuesday afternoon while investigating a garage fire at a home in Falmouth.

Investigators reported the setup to Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control agents, who confiscated a makeshift stovetop distillery and a copper still outside of the split-foyer home in the 100 block of Kelley Road. They also discarded a 5-gallon bucket of mash, according to a news release from the Fire and Rescue Department.

The fire marshal did determine that the fire was caused by an extension cord short, and not anything related to the distilling equipment.

One tenet of making moonshine is staying under the radar of the revenuers. A fire in your home is not a good idea.

FBI Agent NDD in Denver Nightclub

Negligent Dance Discharge.  An off-duty FBI agent was enjoying himself a little too much this weekend when he decided to do a backflip while carrying his weapon. That was his first mistake. His second mistake was failing to use a holster with proper retention. The final blunder was sticking his finger on the trigger when retrieving his gun. I'm pretty sure the FBI teaches you not to do that. An innocent partron of the club was shot in the lower leg as a result.

Despite the headlines calling this an accidental discharge, this was no accident. It's amazing how reporters and law enforcement like to avoid that reality. I heard one report that stated the agent "somehow accidentally fired the gun." This was pure negligence, there's just no dancing around that. (Heh)

ATF Agent Shoots Pet on Playground

Dogs sometimes fight. Fortunately, those folks are rarely serious and sensible humans can usually separate them without undo risk. Unless you happen to be an ATF agent walking his dog on a school playground. In that case, the interaction can turn deadly in a hurry.

SPOTSYLVANIA COURTHOUSE, Va. - A dog owner said an off-duty ATF agent fatally shot his mastiff puppy outside of a middle school in Spotsylvania County.

Vance Gibbs said he brings his dogs to a large field at Ni River Middle School several times a week. However, he is now traumatized after he watched his 8-month-old Presa Canario mastiff puppy Ari die in his arms.

Gibbs said it happened when he and his four puppies and three adult mastiffs were enjoying some exercise on the field Tuesday night. A golden retriever off a leash ran up to them while his dogs, which were on leashes but running free, chased after it.

The dogs then started fighting and Gibbs said he threw himself into the middle trying to get his dogs away. Meanwhile, he said the owner of the golden retriever pulled out a gun and fired twice into the ground, and then a third time hitting Ari in the side. She died minutes later.

There was plenty of irresponsible dog ownership on both side here, and both parties share in the guilt. That said, the trigger-happy ATF agent seems to have exhibited little concern for innocent bystanders. The dogs were fighting each other, not threatening people. The pet owner claims the agent brandished his gun in an earlier incident as well.

NRA - We Will Never Waver

In this video, NRA's Wayne LaPierre reiterates the organization's firm stance on freedom and the ideals enumerated in the Constitution. The NRA will not support any restrictions on law abiding Americans and rejects any further expansion of proven failed policies. LaPierre quite correctly points out that the deaths in Parkland could had been prevented were it not for the cowardliness and incompetence of law enforcement and politicians. After the killer himself, it is they who have the blood of 17 children on their hands.

If you're not a member, join the NRA now. Let's keep the spike in interest growing and defy the virtue signaling of the left. Our enemies know they cannot win in the legislature, so they try to shame gun owners and turn us into pariahs. Our numbers will counteract that.

It's Not "Gun" Control They Want

This list about the Maryland school shooting has been making the rounds of social media, and it gets right to the heart of the matter.
  • What didn’t stop the Maryland school shooting
    • Maryland’s assault weapon ban
    • Maryland’s 10-round magazine limit
    • Maryland’s universal background check requirement
    • Maryland’s law requiring an extensive application process to obtain a permit to purchase a handgun
    • Maryland’s law prohibiting purchase of more than one firearm a month
    • Maryland’s law requiring handgun registration
    • Maryland’s law requiring licensing of handgun owners
    • Maryland’s extremely limited approval of conceal carry permits
    • Maryland’s refusal to honor any concealed carry permit from another state
    • Federal law prohibiting handgun possession for people under 21
    • Laws against carrying without a permit
    • Gun free school zones
    • Laws against discharging a firearm in public
    • Laws against attempted murder
  • What did stop the Maryland school shooting
    • An armed person at the scene who engaged the shooter in less than a minute

The "do something" laws and restrictions around gun ownership that the left has been crying for are already in place. Honest and intelligent people know these laws do nothing to stop evil people from committing acts of violence. Regulations and processes that could actually serve to keep people safe are routinely ignored by those charged with enforcing them. Our leftist antagonists have but one goal with their calls for "gun control." They are not interested in the safety of children, children are mere pawns to them, a means to an end. Their motive is a compliant, defenseless and submissive citizenry.

The despicable people pushing for "gun control" are in my opinion, no different than the tyrants throughout history who cruelly clamped down on the freedom and lives of others. Whether willful participants or useful idiots, they should be met with utter disdain and contempt. They've already proven how they feel about us.

The violence in Maryland will soon fade from the headlines. Unlike the Parkland, Florida mass killing, the outcome in this case doesn't fit the agenda. The leftist narrative must be maintained, facts be damned.

"Gun Free Zone" Hypocrisy

The irony runs deep.

The anti-gun "elite" hypocritically require men with guns to defend them, while the children are left to rely on men guns who refuse to help them.

H/T to The Miller for posting the meme.

Ignoring The Law

From the Code of Virginia...
§ 18.2-422. Prohibition of wearing of masks in certain places; exceptions. It shall be unlawful for any person over 16 years of age to, with the intent to conceal his identity, wear any mask, hood or other device whereby a substantial portion of the face is hidden or covered so as to conceal the identity of the wearer, to be or appear in any public place, or upon any private property in this Commonwealth without first having obtained from the owner or tenant thereof consent to do so in writing. However, the provisions of this section shall not apply to persons (i) wearing traditional holiday costumes; (ii) engaged in professions, trades, employment or other activities and wearing protective masks which are deemed necessary for the physical safety of the wearer or other persons; (iii) engaged in any bona fide theatrical production or masquerade ball; or (iv) wearing a mask, hood or other device for bona fide medical reasons upon (a) the advice of a licensed physician or osteopath and carrying on his person an affidavit from the physician or osteopath specifying the medical necessity for wearing the device and the date on which the wearing of the device will no longer be necessary and providing a brief description of the device, or (b) the declaration of a disaster or state of emergency by the Governor in response to a public health emergency where the emergency declaration expressly waives this section, defines the mask appropriate for the emergency, and provides for the duration of the waiver. The violation of any provisions of this section is a Class 6 felony.

The recent events in Charlottesville and other places around Virginia have made it abundantly clear, Attorney General Mark Herring has no intent to enforce the laws he swore to uphold.

Yet the cops around here will not hesitate to ticket you if your car window tint is too dark. Apparently the Virginia State Police find that holiday DUI checkpoints are better revenue generators.

Another Sheriff Speaks Out

Like Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Sheriff Grady Judd sees the value of an armed, law-abiding populace. And like Sheriff Ivey, he is known for speaking out. The Polk County, Florida law enforcement official sums it up succinctly, "The armed assailant doesn’t plan on you fighting back. He plans on having a gun, doing all the shooting, and you’re just a sitting duck. Well, the ducks need to shoot back."

These guys see the outcomes from "bad guys with guns" every day. They understand well the benefit of a law-abiding and armed population.

See "Sheriff Judd: "If you're not afraid of a gun, get one" for more on the Sheriff's statements.

A Timely Message From Sheriff Ivey

Sheriff Wayne Ivey of Brevard County, Florida has another alert for the public. Whether the threat is islamic or leftist, this is a message everyone should hear, and heed.

A previous PSA from the good sheriff was posted here.

It's Time To Fight Back

This video from Brevard County, Florida Sheriff Wayne Ivey becomes more relevant with each passing day.

As Lt. Colonel Jeff Cooper concluded in Principles of Personal Defense, "It is high time for society to stop worrying about the criminal, and to let the criminal start worrying about society."

If you are willing to accept being a victim, you WILL be a victim.

Why Locked Phones Matter

Why all the fuss about one encrypted phone? Because it's not about just one encrypted phone.

I've said from the beginning the San Bernardino iPhone issue wasn't about fighting terrorism, it was about setting precedent. Be glad the FBI failed. This time.

Speed Trap

I get it. There's a 90 degree left turn ahead, but .15 miles per hour might be a tad overly cautious.

That works out to 13.2 feet per minute. So about a car length a minute. I'm guessing to remain legal one needs about 4 minutes to make the turn.
