Commander in Deceit

"Dana Loesch strikes back at the president's extreme overreach by shedding light on his dishonest history of enforcing existing gun control legislation. The "Commander in Deceit" continues to empower and enable gang members, felons and repeat offenders … while the only people he continuously punishes are law-abiding citizens."

Hypocrisy Much?

Two panels pretty much sum it up. The first is the elitist seeking control over those they consider less worthy, the other seeks to kill the less desirable before they are even born. Little difference in the end.

These Quotes

"Do you really know what Islam is? There's this misconception that Islam is a violent religion. Muslims are actually peaceful."
-- Yasmeen Abdulazeez, sister of Chattanooga muslim terrorist, 2010

"Michelle and I hope today brings joy to all of your homes, both here in the U.S. and around the world. From my family to yours, Eid Mubarak!"
-- White House statement, just hours after the Chattanooga muslim terrorist attack

Leftist Hate and Hypocrisy Towards Christianity

As Christians celebrate the holiest of all liturgical times, the Octave of Easter, I'm left pondering the ongoing, and increasing, persecution and prejudice thrown at Christians by the left, the likes of which we have not experienced in years, if not centuries. As I reflect on the Roman "police state" under which our Lord lived and died, I shudder to think how close we are to facing the same situation again. So many in our country today, led by a pompous cheerleader in the White House, wage an ongoing war against faithful Christians.

It's not only islamic persecution that Christians face today. An even more immediate threat in the United States is an ever increasingly emboldened and violent left that is threatening our religious freedoms while promoting their warped version of "tolerance." Tolerance to the left means accepting only those who profess allegiance to the same immorality du jour they currently champion. In recent weeks we saw a Christian-owned pizza shop attacked for nothing more than expressing their privately held beliefs. More correctly, they were attacked because a leftist reporter lied and distorted their stand. The violent nature of the leftists, especially the LGBT mafia, was further illustrated when a public school teacher threatened to burn down the family's business. The vitriol and hatred directed at Christians by the "inclusive" left is hardly distinguishable from what we hear spewing from islamists around the world.

Recently another sodomite group demanded that Christian churches which do not promote homosexuality be shut down. Seemingly ignorant of their own hypocrisy, the group made no statement on mosques where the killing of gay men and women is preached. Even at an Easter breakfast, the idiot-in-chief couldn't resist a jab at Christianity, while remaining silent on the ongoing genocide perpetrated by faithful moslems, most recently in Kenya. We've also heard sniveling from the head of Apple condemning religious freedom laws in the US. All the while his company profits by opening stores in Saudi Arabia, where the killing of gays, along with the oppression of women and Christians, is a hallmark of the legal system.

One does not have to look long on social media to see the increasing frequent and violent threats perpetrated against Christians. I find it ironic that the two biggest threats to Christianity today, adherents of islam and promotors of the homosexual agenda, could not actually "coexist" outside of a tolerant Christian society.

At Easter, we are reminded that good has already triumphed over evil. When our Lord rose from the dead, He conquered Satan. We may not yet fully enjoy the results of His triumph, but we know the real war has already been won. Those who would attack us today, while they may win a skirmish here and there, are actually no more than the last, and desperate, remnants of Satan's defeated army.

The truth is like a lion; you don’t have to defend it. Let it loose; it will defend itself.

The Blood of Christians

Whenever I see a car like this, I go on alert for my and my family's safety. I must be aware that a supporter of immorality and anti-Christian sentiment is nearby. Recent events, enabled by 0bama's policies and his desire to appease his voting base, at any cost, have shown us the horrific results of his allegiance to those enemies of Christianity. The blood of Christians stains the hands of this president.

Islam is a direct threat to not only Christianity, but America as a whole, and still this president is not shy about his love for this barbaric ideology. If there's any doubt as to his leanings, President Barack Huessein Obama's own statements on islam will clear any confusion.

Sadly, it appears we Christians will have to fend for ourselves if we are to survive. If it's a Holy War they want, it's a Holy War they might just get.

It's Not Just "The Economy"

Exit polls indicated that 60 percent of voters say that the economy was the top issue in this presidential election. Sadly that is a very near-sighted and selfish view of the issues. I suspect that by "economy," what they really mean is they want the government to give them more free stuff. Their only concern is how much the government will provide with little effort on their own part. You don't have to look long to find the leeches jumping for joy over "obama phones" or free gas for their cars, or demanding that someone else to give them free contraceptives so they can sleep around and take no responsibility for their actions.

But the real issues that face Americans are those of basic freedoms, the ones granted by our Creator, and reaffirmed by our Constitution. This administration has led efforts to restrict, or even remove, the rights of a free people, including the two most basic rights granted by natural law, the freedom of religion and the right of self defense. The president has stated many times his desire to negate the 2nd Amendment. His supporters deny he has such plans, despite his own words to the contrary. Even before the votes were fully tallied, his comrades were making their plans on multiple fronts. Evidence to the contrary notwithstanding, power-hungry politicians continue to sell a lie that criminals will obey gun laws. They are supported in their motives by the short-sighted, sheepish, ignorant masses.

It's no coincidence that throughout history, those rulers who have disarmed their unwilling subjects typically also worked hard to remove religion from the lives of the people they oppressed. This president's hatred of the Catholic Church and the morals she teaches is well-known. The rights enumerated in the First Amendment, freedom of religion and freedom of speech, are deeply feared and despised by those plotting evil, and must be limited if corrupt powers are to maintain control.

This administration has fought to limit or remove the rights of the honest citizens of this county in order to advance its own selfish power hungry motives, and to reward those who assist in the corruption of the land. At no time in history has the restrictive government as espoused by Obama and comrades ever benefited a population in the long term. This fact was willfully ignored by voters this week in order to selfishly support their own short term "economy." As repeated so many times in the past, a citizenry marches towards slavery and oppression in a naive search for a "greater good."

This quote, found here, sums up quite succinctly the unrestrained attack on freedom that we can expect thanks to the actions of a people who refuse to look beyond their own immediate and selfish desires,
If you are a Christian, an observant Jew, a "conservative," a libertarian, a firearm owner, a veteran, a businessman -- you are all now officially a despised -- if not yet hunted -- minority in your own country. The lawbreakers, Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano, et. al., now define what is "legal" and can no longer be restrained by politics.

The "winners" now gloat over the loss suffered by those of us who opposed them in the campaign. However, what has been lost goes well beyond mere votes in an election. The loss of freedom to come will affect us all. Those now celebrating do not yet realize what they have wrought, that they too have lost. Not yet.

At the Risk of Invoking Godwin's Law

I'm currently reading a fascinating book, "In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin" by Erik Larson. If you've ever wondered how Adolf Hitler came to power while good people stood by, there's a lot explained in this work. Last week I came across an exchange between German and American representatives that was remarkably apropos to current events.

In 1934, when the Nazi party was gaining control of the German government, anti-Nazi organizations in the U.S. held a mock trial of Hitler in New York. Not surprisingly, the German leaders were not happy, and communicated their displeasure to our embassies in Germany and here at home. Our government leaders held fast to the Constitution and allowed free speech to continue unimpeded. After the "trial," the Germans continued their protests. Secretary of State Cordell Hull issued an aide-mémoire to Germany's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Konstantin von Neurath:
"It is well known that the free exercise of religion, the freedom of speech and of the press, and the right of peacable assembly, are not only guaranteed to our citizens by the Constitution of the United States, but are beliefs deep-seated in the political consciousness of the American people."
Such freedoms, as possessed by American citizens, were incomprehensible to the German officials. Secretary Hull continued:
"It appears, therefore, that the points of view of the two Governments, with respect to the issues of free speech and assembly, are irreconcilable, and that any discussion of this difference could not improve relations which the United States Government desires to preserve on as friendly a basis as the common interest of the two peoples demands."
Compare our government's stance in the 1930's with that of the Obama administration today. The Islamists, a group who coincidently had been Nazi sympathizers, are protesting with riots and murder, the views put forth in some obscure movie. In response, our government apologizes for the film, even before they condemn the violence. The alleged filmmaker was taken in "for questioning" in a midnight display of force made for the television cameras. Government officials oversteps their bounds and urge YouTube to remove the movie. Even the military, specifically the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey, attempts to apply pressure on a private citizen to withdraw his support for the movie.

We should be asking ourselves, and our elected leaders, why the Obama administration is following the example of the German Reich in pressing for the restriction of Constitutional rights of US citizens. History is indeed repeating itself, only this time the antagonist is our own government.

I'll have more on this revealing documentary in a future post, after I finish the book (even though I know how the story ends.)

The Lines Are Drawn

There's a battle over religious freedom brewing in the United States. Currently the aggressors are focusing on the Catholic faithful. However, people of all faiths should be concerned. While the opening volley happens to focus on the Catholic church, this is ultimately an attack on all Americans and on the freedoms we treasure. Russell Shaw opined last year that religious persecution in the United States "will be a tight-lipped campaign of secularist inspiration in which the coercive power of the state is brought to bear on church-related institutions to act against conscience or go out of business."

The declaration by President Barack Hussein Obama ordering the Catholic Church to violate its fundamental beliefs was only the first wave of an assault that shows no sign of letting up. The president's declaration was met, thankfully, by indignation by the Church in the U.S. Over most of the country last weekend, Catholics heard statements from their Bishops, read during Mass, condemning this attack. Here in the Arlington Diocese, we heard a statement from Bishop Loverde.

Archbishop Timothy Broglio of the Archdiocese of Military Services also issued a statement to be read by chaplains in the U.S. Armed Forces. In an unmitigated attack on religious freedom, the Army’s Office of the Chief of Chaplains told Catholic chaplains they could not read the statement. Think about that for a moment — a branch of the United States military ordering the silencing of the Catholic chaplains. Not only is the Obama administration telling the Church it must implement polices that violate the First Amendment and that are directly contrary to teachings of the faith, the administration is now invading the sanctuary by trying to control what is preached from the pulpit. If a politician opens a meeting with a prayer, the left, and the ACLU, get their knickers all in a twist. Yet when the federal government tries to control what a Priest says from the pulpit the silence is deafening.

The freedom of religion in the U.S. was once sacrosanct. No more. This administration, aided by the leftist media, has drawn a line in the sand and is daring the faithful to cross it.

This is not the first time the Church has faced a state-sponsored war. If this battle is to be won, it's time for the 25% of Americans who claim to be Catholic to stand up and be Catholic. Stop supporting heretical "catholics" like Biden, Pelosi and Sebelius. Learn what the Catholic Church really teaches and speak out. We must not stand idly by while the Church is attacked, and ultimately freedom is destroyed. Remember the words of Pope Pius XI"Let us thank God that he makes us live among the present problems; it is no longer permitted to anyone to be mediocre."
